Is WASD possible?

I just discovered this great project after years of trying to get Halo 2 working on my PC (never had an issue with Combat Evolved). I own Halo 2 and a functioning XBox, but I greatly prefer M&Kb to controllers. That said, is it is just impossible to use WASD for movement in this game? No matter what I do in the keybind configuration menu, it always says that 'A' in particular is already assigned. WASD is kind of a modern standard and I want to investigate before I write it off.

I sussed it out... my game is defaulting to French (which is what I want), but it assumes that I'm using an AZERTY keyboard (I am not) and, for some reason, under that scheme the 'A' key seems to be reserved no matter what. Apparently I have to choose between a language that I don't want or a control scheme that I don't want.
